Founding Attorney | Ruth Rivera Law
Ruth Rivera focuses her practice on personal injury litigation, including car wrecks, work injuries, refinery explosions, and slip/trip falls. A native Texan, she was born to immigrant parents who came to the United States seeking to work hard in pursuit of the American dream. This same work ethic and determination was inherited by Ruth and fuels her passion for justice and service.
Ruth graduated from the Spring Branch Independent School District, where she participated in the “dual language” program, which implements curriculums in English and Spanish to promote native proficiency in both languages. After graduating high school in the top 15% percentile, she attended Stephen F. Austin State University (“SFA”). During her time at SFA, Ruth was an honor roll student while also being involved on campus. She was a member of Chi Omega, the Pre-Law Society, and Driving Jacks—a safe-ride program run by volunteer students designed to provide a safe and confidential ride home to intoxicated students and/ or students who otherwise were incapable of getting home safely. She ultimately served as Vice President of Chi Omega and as Recruitment Director of Driving Jacks before graduating with honors from SFA.
After obtaining her bachelor’s degree, Ruth attended the University of Houston Law Center, where she graduated number 27 out of her graduating class of 226 law students—placing her in the top 11% percentile. This rank earned her membership in the Order of the Barons (Order of the Barons is a scholastic honor society. Membership is only offered to students in the top 15% of their entering class). She also served as a Contributing Digest Editor of the Journal of Consumer and Commercial Law. While in law school, Ruth had the opportunity to intern for two plaintiff’s personal injury firms and for the legal department of a Fortune 100 company. She also served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Kyle Carter and the Honorable David Hittner.
When seeking employment as a practicing attorney, Ruth sought to work for the absolute best in the industry. She secured a position working for a national “Big Law” firm that exclusively recruits accomplished lawyers from top tier law schools. There, she was able to represent international corporations and insurance companies in cases dealing with fraud, insurance coverage, and breach of contract. Having worked alongside insurance companies, Ruth gained insight on the insurance industry. As such, she is versed with litigation tactics and settlement techniques from both ends of the negotiation table. Thereafter, she switched practice areas and began representing injured victims. She joined two of the best personal injury firms in the state and throughout the years gained invaluable experience and knowledge.
Now, and after helping secure millions of dollars for deserving clients, Ruth is equipped and excited to deliver excellent bilingual legal representation as the founding attorney of Ruth Rivera Law.
